The Bell and Paton 72-Hole Step-Down Tiered NFT Hydroponic Grow Kit gives you twice the growing capacity of our entry-level kit in a space-efficient 4-tier ladder design. Grow enough lettuce, spinach and herbs to supply your family year-round — from a footprint of less than 1.5m².

How the step-down system works: The pump feeds fresh nutrient solution into the top tier. Gravity carries it down through each of the 4 tiers in sequence, returning to the reservoir at the base. Every plant on every tier gets fresh, oxygenated nutrient solution — not recycled runoff from plants above. This is what separates a properly designed NFT system from cheaper alternatives.

Best crops for South African conditions: Lettuce, baby spinach, rocket, pak choi, Swiss chard, basil, coriander, parsley. With 72 holes you can rotate crops by tier — fast-growing leaves on the top tiers, slower herbs lower down.
